Introducing Michael Sicoli's Portfolio

Quinnipiac University, Class of 2022

My name is Michael Sicoli. I'm a journalism major with a sports studies minor, both of which I graduated with at the end of my third year at Quinnipiac University in May 2022. In 2023, my fourth year at Quinnipiac, I earned a master's degree in sports journalism. From October 2023 to present, I cover high school sports for Long Island's Newsday publication.

Journalism should always be about telling stories that need to be told - big or small. That comes through hard work, a mindset that my parents instilled in me that I look to pay forward in kind.

Testimonials

Feedback from employers and/or co-workers

"Michael performed within the top 20 interns out of approximately 300 from the last 12 months (2021). He was in the top 5% of all interns across in overall performance. We look forward to seeing what Michael does in his future career because we truly believe he has a bright future and everything he needs to succeed."

Kearston Zerzanek, director of communications at Sports Media Inc.

"Michael has done an exceptional job in his role (in 2019-2020). He is not afraid to give critical, but necessary feedback on staff members’ articles, even if the writer is two or three years older than him. He always is expressing his ideas and thoughts when it comes to our brainstorming sessions, whether it be about an article, about laying out the paper or even if it's just about what to do at a meeting."

Bryan Murphy, 2019-20 editor-in-chief of The Quinnipiac Chronicle
